Beauty is certainly in the eye of the beholder when it comes to finding that special place to call home.
Age, number of stories, brick, wood, the list goes on and on depending on the home buyer. However, there is a common ground when it comes to various home designs and styles. Researchers at American Home Shield and analyzed home styles that have been sold according to information from Zillow.
As it turns out, a beach house is the most valuable at $1.2 million, and a mobile home is the least at about $118,000. More commonly found homes like ranches, traditional, split-level and shotgun ranged from about $140,000 to about $304,000.
Illinois and Michigan have the ranch style as the most common across their respective states, however, the most valuable style in Illinois is Victorian at $511,320. Michigan's most valuable style is the log home style at $373,097.
Missouri and much of the midwest and central south, including Texas, have the traditional style as their most common house style, but all four states have different preferences in regard to uniquely popular styles.
Illinois' uniquely popular style is the Georgian while early American comes in as the top in Michigan. Missouri's is the earth home and Texas is the hill country.
