Pope not holding traditional baptisms due to pandemic - WILX-TV

(WILX) - Pope Francis will not hold the traditional children’s baptism in the Sistine Chapel due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Vatican said the decision was made as a precaution due to the current health situation.

Traditionally, Pope Francis has baptized children in the Vatican’s Sistine Chapel for the feast of the Baptism of the Lord, an occasion marking the conclusion of Christmas’ liturgical season. This year, the Baptism of the Lord is Jan. 10.

According to the Vatican, children will now be baptized in their respective parishes.
