Though the marketing wizards creating the campaign for the 1993 Olds 88 didn't know it at the time, the Oldsmobile Division had just 11 years to live at that point. After a bout with relevance among younger car buyers during the 1960s (when the marque got labeled as Youngmobile) and 1970s (when the Cutlass topped the North American sales charts during the middle part of the decade), GM's oldest brand seemed to be losing the loyalty of those car shoppers who remembered—or at least longed for—a time when Curved Dash Oldsmobiles roamed the land.
