FORESTVILLE — Forestville High School Principal Dan Grande is looking forward to a more traditional end to the school year. This includes taking part in typical, in-person activities.
“We’re chipping away,” Grande said. “I think we’re looking forward to the end of the school year, and more so looking forward to the start of a so-called normal school year next year.”
Forestville’s Senior Class Night is one of those events, which will be held on Friday, June 11, at 7 p.m. Students will come in Wednesday during the day to rehearse the event — which will be held inside; students can bring up to four people that reside in the same household to attend.
“It’s tricky this year trying to get anything like this up and running,” Grande said. “Hopefully it’ll go off without a hitch.”
Grande added that if the school had to make these decisions earlier this year, restrictions would have been much more limiting.
“Two months ago, we were looking at possibly not having Class Night,” Grande said. “A month ago, we thought we could do it and just have two guests per student. But now we’re at the point where we’re saying next week, we can get four per, and that’s what we’re planning for.”
The school’s graduation ceremony will be held Saturday, June 26, at 2 p.m. Grande said he is taking input from the students who are currently leaning toward having the ceremony in the Hornet Lobby parking lot.
“It’ll be different from last year because we’ll have far greater participation and more guests available for families,” Grande said. “We’re going to do our best to maximize that as best we can.”
Mervin Fry, at a meeting last week, was elected vice president of the Forestville Central School Board in the wake of Dave Caccamise’s resignation at their last meeting in May. The board also welcomed Andrea Spengler as a new member.
