CLIFTON PARK — The town of Clifton Park will return to holding a traditional in-person community July 4 celebration this year, after it suspended many of the activities in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Last year there was a parade, with limited crowds, but no fireworks or events at Clifton Common.
“Following a review of newly released (Centers for Disease Control) and New York state guidelines for outdoor events, it was determined the live music, fireworks and concessions can return,” the town said in a statement Friday.
With more than half of New York residents now vaccinated, state officials say COVID-19 numbers are at their lowest levels since the start of the pandemic, allowing many activities to resume — and vaccinated people to be out in public without masks under many circumstances.
This year, July 4 will fall on a Sunday. A full schedule of the July 4 events will be released as details are finalized. For now, it’s known the parade will begin at noon at the Route 146 entrance to the Shenendehowa Central School District campus. The parade will proceed to Clifton Common, where music and family activities will be held, concluding with a fireworks display at dusk that has typically drawn thousands of people.
