Police use traditional Balinese characters to heighten Covid awareness - La Prensa Latina

A police officer wearing a traditional Balinese mask of a character named Celuluk, and a traditional dancer on Tuesday walked through the markets of the Indonesian tourist island to educate residents on Covid-19 prevention.

The officer carried a sign saying “No exodus,” referring to a government ban on travel to home provinces for Idul Fitri (Eid al-Fitr), which is in place until May 17.

Local police officers are using Balinese traditional characters to attract public attention to the importance of wearing masks, washing hands and following government orders.

Bali has recorded just over 45,830 cases of Covid-19 and 1,414 deaths (out of a nationwide total of 1,718,575 cases and 47,218 deaths) and is planning to reopen to international tourists in July.
