The Palm Court Jazz Cafe, one of New Orleans’ most venerable stages for the presentation of traditional jazz, will reopen on Wednesday, September 29. The restaurant and live music venue was shuttered in March 2020 at the outset of the pandemic and has remained closed for 18 months. A previously scheduled grand reopening in mid-September was delayed due to Hurricane Ida.
Nina Buck opened The Palm Court Cafe, located at 1204 Decatur Street, in 1989 as both a restaurant and live music venue in a former produce warehouse that served the French Market. The club has since become a center for traditional jazz with a sophisticated table-seating environment.
The lineup for the weeks ahead includes many names and acts familiar to traditional jazz fans, including Greg Stafford, Duke Heitger, Mark Braud, Topsy Chapman, Leroy Jones and Kevin Louis. The Palm Court will be open Wednesday through Sunday from 7 to 11 p.m.. Performances take place from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m.
