As the weather warms up, more Tri-State residents are spending more time outdoors.
However, the state is still on a Stay at Home order, per the Illinois Governor's order, and local officials and residents said they have concerns about people following social distancing.
People in Quincy are out and about enjoying the wave of warm weather.
"I am planning on spending some time outside," Quincy resident Tamara Dietrich said.
Parks are busy with dog walkers and bikers and boaters are taking to the water.
But, the state of Illinois is still under a Stay at Home order, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Dietrich said although it's warm out, it's not the time for people to let their guard down.
"My concern is everyone being safe, and weighing on the side of caution," Dietrich said. "Keep your social distancing at six feet and just be safe."
Dietrich is immunocompromised, meaning she has a weakened immune system due to an underlying health condition.
That's another reason why she said it's important that people don't forget to take social distancing and face coverings seriously, as your behavior can impact others.
"You never know what the next person is going through, so if you can do something to prevent them from getting sick, then why not," Dietrich said.
Quincy Mayor Kyle Moore said he encourages everyone to get out and enjoy the nice weather, but said it's crucial they follow social distancing while doing so, which means staying six feet away from one another.
"I think people need to get our of their house and enjoy the fresh air and exercise," Moore said. "I think that's going to make people feel a lot better. But, make sure you're being mindful of the new recommendations that were handed down."
For Dietrich, she said everyone's number one priority should be keeping themselves and each other safe.
"I do expect to see people out, it's going to be warm, but hopefully they're abiding by the recommendations of the Governor and just weighing with caution," Dietrich said.
The Governor's new requirements for Illinois residents started May 1.
Those include wearing a face covering when in a public place where they can’t maintain a six-foot social distance. Face-coverings will be required in public indoor spaces, such as stores.
