With barely even a cloud in the forecast, North Georgia is set to have a great weekend.
Atlanta’s low is 52 degrees, but the city will quickly warm to its projected high of 80 degrees, Channel 2 Action News chief meteorologist Glenn Burns said. Both marks are within five degrees of seasonal norms.
Under a cloudless sky, Burns said visibility will be high all day. He also hinted at the one thing he can’t wait to see Saturday afternoon.
“There shouldn’t be anything to hinder the view of the Thunderbirds and the Blue Angels,” he said, alluding to the flyovers to honor frontline workers that are scheduled in Atlanta for 1:35 p.m.

While those military-grade jets won’t have to worry about traffic, the average Atlanta will need to plan around a few slow spots, according to the Georgia Department of Transportation.
From 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, two right lanes of I-285 West will be blocked for roadwork near Peachtree Industrial Boulevard, GDOT said. Gwinnett County drivers should expect rolling closures on Ga. 316 East at I-75, with all lanes being closed periodically between 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Closer to Midtown, a right lane of I-75 North will be blocked at Deering Road from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., GDOT said.
Saturday will brings in a stretch of warm weather for North Georgia.
“We have a nice warm afternoon (Saturday),” Burns said. “That’s going to be replaced by some hot afternoons.”
Atlanta should hit the low 80s everyday through Tuesday, according to the latest forecast. A slim chance of rain returns to the forecast Monday, but Tuesday has a higher chance of precipitation.
