RAPID CITY, S.D. — Some organizations are taking a less traditional approach in motivating citizens to vote.
The female-owned Hippie Haven in downtown Rapid City is hosting postcard writing parties through a month-long national registration drive to increase voter turnout. Grassroot volunteers are mailing handwritten postcards to voters of swing states who have not taken part in previous elections.
“It’s like one of the most important elections during our lifetime and if you have the privilege to vote, vote,” said Hippie Haven Store Manager, Chesca Cedillo. “If you have the privilege to know who your candidates are, use every resource that you can.”
The drive began in August and will run through October.
