Cleveland Indians-White Sox will play traditional doubleheader Tuesday after Monday’s postponement - cleveland.com

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- A threat of rain Monday night has caused the Indians and White Sox to schedule their first doubleheader of the 60-game seasons on Tuesday afternoon. It has also given the Indians a chance to shuffle their rotation in preparation for their first trip of the season, a trip that begins with a four-game series against the Twins at Target Field starting Thursday.

The Indians were originally scheduled to start Aaron Civale, Zach Plesac and Shane Bieber in the three-game series against the White Sox. Following Monday’s rainout, right-handers Civale and Adam Plukto will start Tuesday’s doubleheader with the first game beginning at 3:40 p.m. The White Sox will start right-hander Dylan Cease and lefty Carlos Rodon.

Plesac will start the series finale against Chicago on Wednesday, which will allow Bieber to start the series opener against the Twins on Thursday. It means the Indians can start their top two starters in Bieber and Clevinger against the Twins.

The Twins ended the Indians three-year run as AL Central champs last year by winning 101 games.

Bieber is 3-0 with a 4.14 ERA against the Twins. He’s faced them eight times, seven as a starter. Clevinger if 4-3 with a 2.79 ERA against Minnesota. He’s faded them 14 times, 11 as a starter.

At the end of the first game, both teams will take about a 45-minute break before starting the second gtamne.
