Wrestling: County representatives at state traditional meet determined at sectionals - Forsyth County News Online

GHSA traditional wrestling sectionals took place throughout the state on Saturday, with multiple wrestlers from each school qualifying to make the trip to Macon for the state championships next week.

Forsyth Central

The Bulldogs qualified all eight of their boys wrestlers for state at the Class 7A Section B meet at South Forsyth on Saturday. Mikel Stowers (138), Avery Krippner (170), Luis Mier (182), Branden Redecker (195), Darius Green (285) all reached the semifinals in their respective weight classes to qualify. 

Tyson Upchurch (106) finished third, while Preston Ostrowski (120) and RJ Colon (132) also qualified through the consolation bracket.

North Forsyth


Sophia Eglian finished as a sectional champion for the Raiders, and will return to Macon for a chance at a second state title.

Joining her will be Michael Gryder (106), Tate Bissell (152), Cale Bissell (145), Tristan Graham (170), Victor Reyes (182) and Mason Butcher (195). Dylan Lyerly was the sectional champion at 220 pounds, while Bentley Wheeler took the 160 title.

South Forsyth

The War Eagles will send six wrestlers to the state meet, led by Juan Cruz, who won the sectional championship in the 113-pound weight class. He’ll be joined by Sai Gudipati (126), AJ Riner (132), Adrian Gutierrez (138), Cole Williams (170) and Nick Ramsayer (182). Riner and Ramsayer earned third place in their weight classes.

West Forsyth

West’s will take 11 wrestlers to the state meet, headlined by Noah Amick (106), Brody Knapp (138), Ethan Rickert (152), Daba Fofana (182) and Dylan Fairchild (285) and Chase Murray (126) each making it to the semifinals.

Lance Corcimiglia finished third in the 170-pound bracket, while Chase Murray (113), Jay Hellstone (195), Spencer Bovenizer (220) all qualifying through the consolation bracket.

Lambert

The Longhorns will be represented by multiple sectional placers at the state meet, led by Davis Dobbs (120) and Mason McClung (113), who finished second and third, respectively.

Thomas Dossett was the runner-up in the 220 bracket, and Dylan Monahan (160) came in fourth. Holden Teillon (138) and Lucas Teillon (145) each placed fifth.

Denmark

Three wrestlers will represent Denmark at the state meet after the Danes’ sectional meet in Perry on Saturday: Arthur Marsden was the runner up at 220 pounds, while Ethan Culbreth (138) and Zach Recker (113) finished third and fourth in their brackets.

Pinecrest Academy

The Paladins will send their top two wrestlers to state for Class 1A Private, with Mark Metz and Joe Metz each earning sectional championships at 126 and 152 pounds, respectively.
