Craving traditional American food?

1. Odd Duck

Topping the list is Odd Duck. Located at 1201 S. Lamar Blvd. in Zilker, the bar and traditional American spot is the most popular high-end traditional American restaurant in Austin, boasting 4.5 stars out of 1,709 reviews on Yelp.

Yelper Khai L. noted, "The food is delicious! Tuna ceviche is not your typical ceviche. It has a hint of sweetness and not sour at all...Grilled carrot could almost be the star of the menu. The carrot is tender on the inside and grilled on the outside and showered in this special sauce with chili oil. Make sure the sourdough bread is a companion on the table. You will need it to sweep up the sauce left over after devouring the carrot."

2. Rosewood

Next up is Central East Austin's Rosewood, situated at 1209 Rosewood Ave. With 4.5 stars out of 159 reviews on Yelp, the bar and traditional American spot, serving seafood and more, has proven to be a local favorite for those looking to indulge.

The site can tell you a thing or two more about Rosewood and the faces behind it. Growing up in Victoria, TX, Executive Chef Jesse DeLeon developed a passion and interest in cooking in his mother's kitchen.

"Known for his innovative take on South Texas cuisine, Chef DeLeon incorporates elements from both his fine dining restaurant experience and his mother's home-cooked meals to create unexpected interpretations of sentimental regional dishes," according to the bio section of the business's Yelp profile.

"We pay homage to our historic 1890 home, our neighbors and guests, the Hill Country farmers and ranchers, and Gulf Coast fishers who provide the provisions we all can enjoy. Our menu changes daily."

3. ALC Steaks

Downtown Austin's ALC Steaks, located at 1205 N. Lamar Blvd., is another top choice, with Yelpers giving the fancy steakhouse, bar and traditional American spot four stars out of 568 reviews.

Yelper Robert H., who reviewed ALC Steaks on Dec. 11, wrote, "I ordered the rib eye steak, while my wife and mother-in-law shared a filet. Both steaks were cooked perfectly. But the best part was the rub they used for both... There are like 10 or so spices that were put on the meat. Man, they were so flavorful and delicious!"

4. Eberly

Eberly, a bar and traditional American spot in Zilker, is another pricey go-to, with four stars out of 452 Yelp reviews. Head over to 615 S. Lamar Blvd. to see for yourself.

Yelper Chloe K., who reviewed Eberly on Nov. 23, wrote, "I can't emphasize this enough: The drunken monk is one of the best drinks I've ever had! As far as food goes, appetizer highlights include the crudo and the mac and cheese (cheesy, not too creamy, crispy on top...perfect!)."
