The Strong-Huttig School District will hold a traditional graduation ceremony on Friday, July 17 at 7 p.m. at Jerry Burson Football Field.
All attendees are required to wear a face covering and maintain an appropriate level of social distancing during the ceremony. Seating is limited to every other row in the bleachers, but family groups are allowed to sit together. Individuals over the age of 65 and with underlying health conditions should avoid large crowds and asses their risk associated with attending this event.
The 2020 Commencement address speaker will be Teneshe Barnes, a 1996 graduate from Strong High School.
Barnes serves as Director of Substance Abuse Prevention for Arkansas Department of Human Services/Division of Aging, Adult, and Behavioral Health Services (DHS-DAABHS) Drug Director Office. She directs and manages all aspect of prevention for the state of Arkansas, including over 26 substance abuse programs and various contracts, with the University of Arkansas at Little Rock-Midsouth, Criminal Justice Institute, and University of Arkansas Medical Science.
Barnes and her experienced team work to make a meaningful impact in the way substance abuse prevention is addressed in the state. Her goals for prevention are to educate citizens, empower communities, encourage collaboration and enhance prevention efforts through community mobilization to foster a healthy and positive environment for the great State of Arkansas.
Barnes holds a bachelor’s degree in Psychology/Sociology from Henderson State University and a master’s degree in Human Resource Development and Leadership from Webster University.
The 2020 Valedictorian for Strong-Huttig High School is Christian Keathley. The 2020 Salutatorian is Angel Dimler.
