STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- If you ever have a hankering for a really great shepard's pie or some other traditional Irish fare, go straight to O'Neill's Irish Pub in Port Richmond and eat some of the best Staten Island has to offer, hands down.

The atmosphere at O'Neill's is always warm and friendly and my family looks forward to the brunch menu on Sundays after mass or if we're simply in the mood for a pastrami sandwich, steak and eggs, or a French toast burger.

Is your mouth watering yet?

The service unfailingly good, and the owner, Michael Regan, is a good guy. It's a pleasure to support proprietors who care about the neighborhood, right?

Other menu favorites are the Maryland crabcakes and not to mention the Irish egg rolls, chicken pot pie, and fried cauliflower appetizer. Paired with an iced cold beer or martini, there's nothing better.

If you're smart, you may want to check Groupon for occasional good deals on guaranteed great comfort food.

The brunch cocktail specials include $5 pint-sized bloody Marys, among others, and if the conversation at your table gets dull, there are large televisions which will likely have your favorite sports team on.

O'Neill's Irish Pub may be reached at 718-273-4481 and is located at 1614 Forest Avenue. Visit their website and may be reached by clicking here.
